TLDR Summary:
PEMF uses targeted electromagnetic pulses to stimulate your cells directly, supporting pain relief, faster recovery, better sleep and reduced inflammation.
Multiple clinical reviews back its use for joint pain, soft tissue injury and recovery, particularly across a course of sessions. At BTI we deliver PEMF through the HUGO PRO system, most often combined with HOCATT™ in the same visit.

What is PEMF therapy, really?
PEMF stands for Pulsed Electromagnetic Field therapy. Every cell in your body runs on electrical signals, and PEMF works by delivering low-frequency electromagnetic pulses that support and encourage those natural processes.
At BTI, we deliver PEMF through the HUGO PRO system, a professional-grade device that sends precisely controlled electromagnetic waves deep into tissue.
Those pulses interact with your cells to help optimise function, support circulation, and encourage your body’s own regenerative processes, without needles, medication or downtime.
What can PEMF actually help with?
- Chronic and acute pain, including joint conditions like arthritis
- Inflammation
- Recovery from injury, surgery or intense training
- Poor sleep
- Stress and a nervous system that won’t switch off
- Bone healing and wound healing
- Circulation
- Sports injuries
There’s also early research exploring PEMF for neurological conditions like migraines, and for its possible role in mood support, though that evidence base is still developing and shouldn’t be your main reason for booking.
Why a single PEMF session isn’t the full story
A 30-minute PEMF session feels good on its own, most clients describe a gentle pulsing sensation and leave feeling looser and calmer. But the research on PEMF is consistent on one point: it’s a cumulative therapy, not a light switch.
A systematic review pooling 17 studies and close to 1,200 osteoarthritis patients found meaningful reductions in pain and improved quality-of-life scores, but these results were built across a course of treatment, not a single session. A separate 2025 meta-analysis of randomised trials in patients with shoulder impingement found PEMF significantly reduced pain and improved function, again measured after a structured course.
This is exactly why our HOCATT™ 10-Session Wellness Bundle includes 10 PEMF sessions rather than a one-off. Real change tends to build in layers, not a single visit.

Why PEMF and HOCATT™ work so well together
We rarely deliver PEMF on its own, and there’s a reason for that. Combining HOCATT™ with PEMF enhances your body’s natural detoxification process while supporting cellular repair and circulation at the same time. HOCATT™ improves circulation and opens up your body’s detox pathways using ozone, heat and oxygen. PEMF then goes to work at a cellular level, on inflammation, tissue repair and pain, while circulation is already primed to support it.
In practice, this means clients often notice PEMF’s effects, less stiffness, better sleep, steadier energy, show up faster and last longer when it’s paired with HOCATT™ in the same session, which is exactly how we deliver it in the bundle.

What clients say
“The PEMF and HOCATT treatments have supported my body’s recovery after ongoing exposure to mould. I now have energy and a feeling of wellness.” – Sally A
“I walked in quite fatigued after suffering from vertigo for 5 weeks. After the session my body felt lighter. The next morning I realised I didn’t need to run hot water over my lower back like I do every morning.” – Hoops
FAQ
Does PEMF therapy hurt?
No. Most clients feel a gentle pulsing or vibrating sensation, nothing more.
How many PEMF sessions will I need?
PEMF works best as a course. Our bundle includes 10 sessions, delivered alongside HOCATT™, for this reason.
Can I have PEMF if I have a pacemaker or metal implants?
No. PEMF is contraindicated for electrical implants, certain metal implants, epilepsy, pregnancy and a small number of other conditions. Your consultation will cover this before you begin.
Where can I book PEMF therapy on the Sunshine Coast?
PEMF is available at our Maroochydore clinic. You can read the full treatment details on our PEMF service page, or book directly here
